Homeowner Contribution

Consistent with Habitat's philosophy of "a hand up, not a hand out", we recommend that homeowners contribute in some way to the cost of installing solar on their homes.  Their contribution should be meaningful while preserving the goal of significant reduction in the household's utility costs.  In Virginia, homeowners are paying between $15 and $30 per month for their solar systems (depending on the size of the solar system).  This range of solar payment amount results in monthly electric bill savings of $50 to $100, respectively.
