Kicking Off Our National Habitat Solar Project

On Saturday, September 20th, we hosted a community event to celebrate a major milestone: the launch of our national project that aims to install 10,000 solar systems on Habitat for Humanity homes over the next five years.

As part of the event, we installed solar on three Habitat townhomes on Suter Street in Harrisonburg, Virginia and gathered with neighbors, volunteers, and partners to mark the beginning of this exciting campaign. This event was the perfect way to launch a project that will have lasting impact for low-income families across the country.

Affordable Housing + Renewable Energy

Give Solar’s mission is to reduce costs for low-income homeowners by making solar energy accessible and affordable. By partnering with Habitat for Humanity, this vision brings together affordable housing and renewable energy. The result is homes that are not only financially sustainable but also environmentally friendly.

A typical 5 kW solar system can lower electricity bills by $70–$80 each month. Over the 25–30 year lifespan of a system, these savings provide stability and protection from rising energy prices.

The Future of Our Mission

The next phase of this national project is to raise the funds needed to implement our goal of installing solar systems on 10,000 Habitat homes. GiveSolar has already raised $3.8M toward our goal. In the next year, we hope to raise $40M that will be used to incentivize solar on thousands of Habitat homes.

Our campaign is already installing pilot projects in many states around the country and will officially launch the national project on January 1, 2026. This campaign will ensure that thousands of Habitat homeowners across the United States experience both immediate relief from high energy bills and the long-term financial security of clean, reliable power.
